We had an excellent trip to the Iron Age Wheelhouse and Souterrain last week. We are now working on our roundhouses this week. We will be writing explanations about wheelhouses, roundhouses, brochs, souterrains and crannogs in our writing lessons.
David Hunter (Eden Court Outreach Drama Worker) is teaching a workshop on Wednesday afternoon about the origin of Scottish place names which connects very well with our history projects.
This map of Scotland was created by the Roman geographer Claudius Ptolemy ( 90-168 AD) about the time the wheelhouse was built. Last year it was on sale in one of the world's first atlases for £90,000 ! The atlas was first printed in 1475.
In Maths we are learning how to solve addition and subtraction problems by reordering the numbers, sometimes this might involve brackets or several written steps.
